Graham St., Hong Kong
Graham Street is a narrow, canvas covered area which is one of Hong Kong's great "wet markets"; so named because local vendors are constantly spraying water on the vegetables and fish to keep them fresh in the often warm, humid environment. You will also find live chickens ready for slaughter and butcher shops displaying freshly cut meats. Flowers and fresh herbs are also available. Large crowds of locals converge on this market to purchase ingredients for their midday or evening meals, and this adds to the excitement of the place as they barter with merchants for the best price on the freshest products. Of equal interest in this area are the many adjoining side streets which show a slice of old Hong Kong.
