Eastern Sierra Fall Colors

The Eastern Sierra is one of California's most dramatic landscapes! It is a rugged territory of enthralling beauty. The awe inspiring eastern slope of the Sierra extends from the 14,495 foot summit of Mount Whitney to the volcanic and prehistoric Mono Basin. The Eastern Sierra encompasses arid deserts, lush pine forests, jagged mountains, primeval volcanoes, icy lakes and valleys carved out by ancient glaciers. In late October these valleys explode with color from the many quacking Aspens lining their creeks.

This portfolio explores two glacial valleys with creeks that feed into the 700,000 year old Mono Lake which is located at an approximate elevation of 6,500 feet. June Lake Loop is nestled beneath the granite face of Carson Peak and skirts June, Gull, Silver and Grant lakes. Lundy Canyon is a deep U-shaped valley filled with lakes, streams and beaver ponds.
